Introducing Creative Wales
In a nation shaped by talent and imagination, creativity has a new champion.
Creative Wales is a new agency set up within Welsh Government. Our mission is to drive growth across the creative industries, build on existing success and develop new talent and skills –positioning Wales as one of the best places for creative businesses to thrive.
We’re here to help you bring your ideas to life: to give them legs, wings, or simply a helping hand.
We want to see an industry where all kinds of people can build rewarding careers. We will help you harness your skills, imagination and energy, and give your creativity the freedom to develop and succeed at the highest levels.
Along the way, we’ll have your back. Our team know their way around the creative industries, and have all the specialist knowledge and expertise that the business demands.
Together, we can take Wales to the world – developing, connecting and showcasing our best creative minds and businesses.
This is Creative. This is Wales.
This is Creative Wales.
The creative industries represent one of Wales’ fastest-growing sectors, with an annual turnover of more than £2.2 billion, and employing over 56,000 people – 40% more than 10 years ago.
Supporting our sectors
Creative Wales will champion the creative industries in Wales, providing a strong and unified voice for the sector.
We will drive growth across the whole of the nation, and plan targeted regional activity. Our initial focus will be on three key sub-sectors: film and TV, digital and gaming, and music. For each of these sectors, we will develop a comprehensive action plan with key stakeholders. We will seek to promote each sector internationally, providing opportunities for key companies to build their global profile.
All our sectors have a role to play in promoting Wales to the world – not only as a centre for creative excellence, but also as a great place to visit, live and work. Together, they tell the story of a country rich in culture, creativity and community.
