Welsh celebrities Rob Brydon, Ruth Jones, Sophie Evans and Caroline Sheen will help host a virtual quiz night for children’s hospice, Tŷ Hafan.
The event is being held at 7pm Friday 10 on the Welsh charity’s Facebook page and is the second virtual quiz fundraiser they have organised.
Players are asked to donate what they can, with the first quiz raising almost £3,000.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown, Tŷ Hafan had to cancel all their planned events and close their charity shops, meaning a potential income loss of more than £2 million this year.
The charity supports life-limited children and their families across Wales.
The quiz will feature pre-recorded questions read by eight famous faces.
It will be themed around music, movies and television with a special Gavin and Stacey themed round hosted by Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones.
Other celebrity quizmasters taking part include Westend actresses Kerry Ellis, Aisha Jawando and Sophie Evans. Musical theatre actress, Caroline Sheen, will also be joining the lineup.
Britain’s Got Talent 2019 winner, Colin Thackery and Karen Gibson from The Kingdom Choir, who led the royal wedding performance of ‘Stand by Me’ for Harry and Meghan, are also among the quizzers.
The first online fundraising quiz saw 3,800 people play.
This quiz series is one of the virtual fundraising ideas the charity is exploring to help keep the doors of their hospice open. They are also planning a virtual marathon in May.
Many charities are having to find alternative ways to fund their work during the global pandemic as shops have been shut and social gatherings stopped.
UK Government announced on Wednesday an extra £750 million in funding for frontline charities with £200 million of that specifically for hospices in England. Wales will get a portion of this funding.
